    〜として〜ない (~toshite ~nai) — not a single ~ / not even one ~

The stronger, more formal 「一人も・一つも」— 'not even a single one'.

    Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

    When to use it

    • The 店長 announces a new rule at the meeting: 「だれ一人として反対しなかった」(not one single person objected).
    • It is used when you want extra force, in writing or in a speech-like register.

    Meaning

「一人として」「一日として」「何一つとして」= 'not even a single person / day' — a strong 'zero, not even one'.

    How to attach

    • The front is always 「一 + counter」: 一人・一日・一度・一つ・一冊
    • The end is always negative: 〜

    Versus what you know

    • N4「一人も来なかった」「一つもない」are fine for everyday talk; 「として」is much stronger.
    • 「だれ一人として反対しなかった」sounds much stronger than 「だれも反対しなかった」.
    • N3「〜さえ」and「〜まで」also mean 'even that far', but they work in positive sentences too (母まで反対した); 「として」sticks to 一 and exists only to say 'not even one'.

    Watch out

    • You cannot say 二人として or 三日として — the whole job of this form is 'not even the smallest unit'.
    • It never works in a positive sentence.

Since I joined the company there hasn't been a single day without overtime.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 一日 = one day (the smallest unit) → we attach 「として」: 一日として → then a negative: 残業しなかった日はない → strong emphasis: "not even one day".

Not a single person objected to the manager's new rule.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 一人 = one person → add 「だれ」 in front: だれ一人 (even stronger) → 「として」 → then a negative: 反対しなかった → "nobody, not even one person".

Not a single thing in the moving boxes was broken.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 一つ = one thing → add 「何」: 何一つ → 「として」 → then a negative: 壊れていなかった → "not even one thing was broken".

    Question: 1/3

— fill the blank.

💡 Hint: Which number can stand before として?
