Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
When to use it
It is entirely casual, heard when people mutter to themselves or grumble to a friend.
Meaning
- To wish the present were different, use 「〜たらなあ」or 「〜ばなあ」: 「お金があったらなあ」= if only I had money.
- The final なあ is like a sigh — it signals a wish you know will not come true.
- Adding いいのに, as in 「〜たらいいのになあ」, sharpens the "but it isn't so" feeling.
