    〜たって・だって (~tatte / datte) — casual 〜ても

However much you try, the result is the same — a resigned, casual "even if".

    Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

    Verb Vた + って
    い-adj い-adj [い] + くたって
    な-adj な-adj [だ] + だって
    N N + だって

    Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

    Meaning

What follows is usually negative or resigned: 「急いだって間に合わないよ」= even if you hurry you won't make it.

    How to attach

    • In speech 「〜ても」(even if) becomes 「〜たって」.
    • い-adjectives take 〜くたって, nouns and な-adjectives take 〜だって.

    Watch out

Separately, a 「だって」standing at the head of a sentence is a different thing — it is the excuse-making "but, because…": 「だって、つかれてたんだもん」.

    Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

    急いだって、終電に間に合わないよ。

    いそいだって、しゅうでんにまにあわないよ。

Even if you hurry, you won't catch the last train.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 急ぐ (to hurry) → た-form 急いだ → add って → 急いだって = even if you hurry. It's the spoken form of 「急いでも」.

    いくら高くたって、買うよ。

    いくらたかくたって、かうよ。

No matter how expensive it is, I'm buying it.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 高い (expensive) → drop い, add く → 高く → add たって → 高くたって = even if it's expensive.

    だって、給料が安いんだもん。

    だって、きゅうりょうがやすいんだもん。

Well, the pay is just low, you know.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) This だって comes on its own at the start of the sentence, so it is not "even if" — it's the excuse-giving "well, it's because…".
