〜たところ (~ta tokoro) — when I did ~, I found
What you found out by trying — a written pattern linking an attempt to its discovery.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
When to use it
It belongs to written and formal style; in speech people use 「〜たら」instead.
Meaning
- 「〜たところ」reports what you discovered after trying something: 「病院で調べたところ、何も問題なかった」= when I got checked at the hospital, there was nothing wrong.
- The order is "I did it, and this is what turned up", so new information or a result usually follows.
How to attach
A た-form always comes in front.
Versus what you know
N4Do not confuse it with 「〜ところです」(right now) — here ところ marks a discovery, not a moment in time.
