〜てからでないと (~te kara de nai to) — unless ~ is done first
That has to happen first, or this can't — where the order is compulsory.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
When to use it
It is very useful for explaining rules at work.
Meaning
Use 「〜てからでないと」when one thing has to be finished before another is possible: 「店長に聞いてからでないと、決められない」= I can't decide unless I ask the manager first.
How to attach
「〜てからでなければ」means the same and sounds a little more formal.
Watch out
- There is one big rule — a negative must follow (できない, 分からない, だめだ).
- A positive ending makes the sentence wrong.
