    〜にしたところで (~ni shita tokoro de) — even for ~ / ~ is no different

'You think it's different for them? They're in the same boat' — refusing to treat someone or something as the exception.

    Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

    N + にしたところで、…(同じだ/〜わけではない)

    Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

    When to use it

    • At the shop, the staff complain: 'The manager should sort the shifts out properly.'
    • You reply: 「店長にしたところで、本社の決定には逆らえない」— even the manager can't go against head office's decision.

    Meaning

    • 「〜にしたところで」= 'that person (or thing) you'd expect to be different is in the same position and can't do much either'.
    • After blaming others, people often include themselves: 「私にしたところで」— humbly, 'I'm no better'.
    • After it comes 'it's the same / can't / isn't': 同じことだ・〜わけではない・どうしようもない.

    How to attach

    • N + 「にしたところで」— straight after a noun (a person, an organisation, a thing)
    • In speech, 「〜にしたって」

    Versus what you know

    • N2「〜にしたら・にしても」(親にしたら心配だ — from the parents' side) just shows someone's viewpoint; 「にしたところで」adds the deflated tone 'they're no exception, it's the same for them'.
    • The previous point's 「としたところで」came after a 'suppose' clause; 「にしたところで」comes after a noun.

    Watch out

It is not used to praise someone.

    Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

    店長にしたところで、本社の決定には逆らえない。

    てんちょうにしたところで、ほんしゃのけっていにはさからえない。

Even the store manager can't go against the head office's decision.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 店長 = store manager (seems to have power) → attach 「にしたところで」 directly = even the manager → then 'can't': 逆らえない.

    新人の遅刻を注意したが、私にしたところで、昔はよく遅れていた。

    しんじんのちこくをちゅういしたが、わたしにしたところで、むかしはよくおくれていた。

I warned the new hire about being late, but I myself used to be late a lot.

    How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 注意した = I told (them) off → 「が」 = but → 私 + 「にしたところで」 = me too (I'm no exception) → then my own weakness: よく遅れていた.

    電車は遅れが多いが、バスにしたところで同じことだ。

    でんしゃはおくれがおおいが、バスにしたところでおなじことだ。

Trains are often late, but buses are no different.

    How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 電車 = trains (they're late) → バス = buses (you'd think they're different) → 「にしたところで」 = buses too → then 同じことだ = it's the same.

    Knowledge check (मिनी ज्ञान जाँच)

    Question: 1/3

    「親___、子どもの将来がすべて分かるわけではない。」— fill the blank.

💡 Hint: Which particle goes straight after the noun?
