    〜といわず〜といわず (~to iwazu ~to iwazu) — ~ and ~ alike — everywhere, all the time

Not just here or there — everywhere, without exception.

    Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

    N + といわず + N + といわず、…

    Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

    When to use it

    • Picture your brother coming home after a day of gardening — hands, face, clothes, all covered in soil.
    • In Japanese: 「手といわず顔といわず泥だらけだ」.

    Meaning

    • Literally 'not saying hands, not saying face' — that is, without distinction, everywhere.
    • The pairs are usually linked in space or time: hands–feet, day–night, home–office, room–stairs.
    • What follows is a state (〜だらけだ・〜が落ちている) or a habit (いつも〜ている), often with a negative or tiring image.

    How to attach

    Noun + 「といわず」, twice

    Versus what you know

The previous point, 「といい〜といい」, judges one thing by its qualities ('how good/bad'); といわず shows a scene or habit — 'here, there, everywhere, all the time, it's like this.'

    Watch out

A request (〜てください) or wish (〜たい) cannot follow — this form describes what is happening.

    Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

    畑仕事のあと、手といわず顔といわず泥だらけになった。

    はたけしごとのあと、てといわずかおといわずどろだらけになった。

After the field work, I was covered in mud — hands, face, everywhere.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 手 = hands, 顔 = face (parts of the body) → 「といわず」 after both = without making a distinction → then the state: 泥だらけ = covered in mud.

    隣の工事のせいで、昼といわず夜といわず大きな音が響いている。

    となりのこうじのせいで、ひるといわずよるといわずおおきなおとがひびいている。

Because of the construction next door, loud noise echoes day and night alike.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 昼 = daytime, 夜 = night (a pair of times) → 「といわず」 twice → then the bad situation: 音が響いている = noise keeps echoing.

    部長は会社といわず家といわず、いつもパソコンに向かっている。

    ぶちょうはかいしゃといわずいえといわず、いつもパソコンにむかっている。

The department head is always at the computer — at the office, at home, everywhere.

    How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 会社 = office, 家 = home (a pair of places) → 「といわず」 → then the habit: いつも〜ている = is always doing ~.

    Knowledge check (मिनी ज्ञान जाँच)

    Question: 1/3

💡 Hint: Whatever follows the second noun goes after the first too.
