    〜によらず (~ni yorazu) — regardless of ~ / contrary to ~

'Same no matter the age or experience' — and 「見かけによらず」: 'not what you would guess from the looks'.

    Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

    N + によらず、…

    Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

    When to use it

    • A job ad for a shop says: 'With or without experience, the hourly wage is the same 1,200 yen.'
    • On your first day a small, slim co-worker lifts a heavy box with ease — 'you would never guess from looking at her!'

    Meaning

    • Both feelings come from 「〜によらず」: 'not depending on that — the same for all'.
    • 「何事によらず」means 'in everything, whatever it is'.
    • The other famous use is 「見かけによらず」— the opposite of what you would guess from someone's looks (strong, a big eater, kind…).

    How to attach

Straight after a noun (年齢によらず) — categories like age, gender, job type or experience

    Versus what you know

    • N3「によらず」is the negative of 「〜によって」(「人によって違う」= differs from person to person).
    • The earlier 「いかんにかかわらず・いかんを問わず」took the content of something (reason, result) and were stiff rule language; 「によらず」is a little softer.

    Watch out

After 「見かけによらず」what follows cannot match the looks — 「見かけによらず強そうだ」is wrong, because 'looking strong' is the looks.

    Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

    経験の有無によらず、時給は一律1,200円です。

    けいけんのうむによらず、じきゅうはいちりつ1,200えんです。

With or without experience, the hourly wage is a flat 1,200 yen.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 経験の有無 = whether you have experience or not → attach 「によらず」 directly = not depending on that → then the same for everyone: 一律 (flat) 1,200円.

    この会社では、年齢によらず、実力のある人が大きな仕事を任される。

    このかいしゃでは、ねんれいによらず、じつりょくのあるひとがおおきなしごとをまかされる。

At this company, regardless of age, capable people are given big jobs.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 年齢 = age → 「によらず」 = not depending on age → then: 実力のある人が任される (work is given by looking at ability).

    彼女は見かけによらず、重い荷物も平気で運ぶ。

    かのじょはみかけによらず、おもいにもつもへいきではこぶ。

She doesn't look it, but she carries heavy loads without any trouble.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 見かけ = appearance (small, slim) → 「によらず」 = contrary to appearance → then an unexpected fact: 重い荷物も平気で運ぶ (she carries even heavy things easily).

💡 Hint: 'Anyone' — does it depend on nationality or not?
