    〜てならない (~te naranai) — can't help feeling ~ (spontaneous emotion)

A feeling that rises by itself — 残念でならない・気になってならない.

    Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

    Verb Vて + ならない
    い-adj い-adj [い] + くて + ならない
    な-adj な-adj + で + ならない

    Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

    When to use it

    • Missing a friend's wedding, waiting for an interview result, the nagging sense that you forgot something — the feeling keeps coming whether you want it or not.
    • 「面接の結果が気になってならない」= I cannot stop worrying about the result.

    Meaning

    • 「残念でならない」is for a feeling that rises from the heart on its own.
    • It goes with feelings and thoughts that arise inside — 残念・心配・不安・くやしい・かわいそう・気の毒.
    • And with 'it just seems to me' verbs like 気がする・思える・思い出される・感じられる.

    How to attach

    • Verb て-form + ならない (気になって)
    • い-adjective くて (くやしくて)
    • な-adjective で (残念で)

    Versus what you know

    • The difference from 「てたまらない」you just learned: 「たまらない」goes with what the body feels (眠い・かゆい・おなかがすいた); 「ならない」with feelings and thoughts inside.
    • People say 「気がしてならない」, never 「気がしてたまらない」.

    Watch out

    • It mostly carries a negative, heavy feeling.
    • It does not work with evaluating words like きれい・下手 (「きれいでならない」is wrong).
    • The tone is somewhat written and serious — for light talk with friends 「しょうがない」is the natural choice.
    • It also describes your own feeling — for someone else add 「ようだ・らしい」: 「彼は残念でならないようだ」.

    Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

    面接の結果が気になってならない。

    めんせつのけっかがきになってならない。

I can't stop worrying about the interview result.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 気になる = to be on your mind (a verb for something that happens by itself) → て-form: 気になって → we attach 「ならない」 → "I just can't stop worrying".

    国にいる母のことが心配でならない。

    くににいるははのことがしんぱいでならない。

I can't help worrying about my mother back home.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 心配 = worry (な-adj, a feeling) → we add 「で」: 心配で → 「ならない」 → "the worry keeps coming on its own".

    大事な書類をどこかに忘れたような気がしてならない。

    だいじなしょるいをどこかにわすれたようなきがしてならない。

I keep feeling that I left an important document somewhere.

    How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 〜ような気がする = it feels like ~ (happens by itself) → て-form: 気がして → 「ならない」 → "I can't shake that feeling". 「たまらない」 doesn't work here.
