    〜ものだから (~mono da kara) — because ~ (polite excuse)

The excuse you can say to the manager or a customer — 「電車が止まったものですから」.

    Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

    Verb V普通形 + ものだから/もので
    い-adj い-adj + ものだから/もので
    な-adj な-adj [だ] + な + ものだから/もので
    N N [だ] + な + ものだから/もので

    Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

    When to use it

    • Arriving late, you tell the manager 「遅れてすみません、電車が止まったものですから」(sorry I'm late, the train stopped).
    • In mail or with customers, always choose 「ものですから」.

    Meaning

    • 「〜ものだから」= 'because ~' — softer than 「から」, with the feeling 'it was not my intention, the situation was like this'.
    • 「ので」only gives a reason; 「ものですから」says 'a personal excuse, please understand'.

    How to attach

    • Plain form (普通形) + ものだから
    • な-adjectives and nouns drop 「だ」and take 「な」: 「熱があったものですから」「病気なものですから」「子どもなものですから」
    • Polite form: 「〜ものですから」; short form: 「〜もので」
    • In speech 「もんだから・もんで」is more casual.

    Versus what you know

N3You learned 「〜もん・〜んだもん」— the childlike excuse you give friends and family: 「行きたくない。疲れたんだもん」. At N2 you learn the same 「もの」in its polite clothes.

    Watch out

    • What follows is never a command or your own intention ('please do', 'let's') — only what happened after the excuse (休みました・遅れました).
    • The clause after 「もので」can be left unsaid — 「すみません、急いでいたもので…」.
    • Sentence-final 「〜もの」is mostly used by women and children.

    Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

    遅れてすみません。電車が事故で止まったものですから。

    おくれてすみません。でんしゃがじこでとまったものですから。

Sorry I'm late. The train stopped because of an accident.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 止まった = stopped (普通形) → we attach 「ものですから」 = because it stopped → the apology first, the excuse after — the pattern for telling the 店長.

    娘がまだ小さいものですから、夜のシフトは難しいんです。

    むすめがまだちいさいものですから、よるのシフトはむずかしいんです。

My daughter is still small, so night shifts are difficult for me.

    How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 小さい = small (い-adj, as it is) → 「ものですから」 = because she's small → then the situation: 「難しいんです」 — not a command like "don't".

    すみません、日本語がまだ苦手なもので、うまく説明できませんでした。

    すみません、にほんごがまだにがてなもので、うまくせつめいできませんでした。

Sorry, my Japanese is still weak, so I couldn't explain it well.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 苦手だ = weak at (な-adj) → drop 「だ」 and use 「な」: 苦手な → we attach 「もので」 → then something that already happened: 「説明できませんでした」 (not a command or request).

    Knowledge check (मिनी ज्ञान जाँच)

    Question: 1/3

    「息子がまだ_ものですから、早く帰らせていただきます。」— fill the blank.

💡 Hint: After a noun, not 「だ」— what?
