〜といい・ばいい・たらいい (~to ii / ba ii / tara ii) — I hope / you could
A hope for yourself, or a suggestion for someone else.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
Meaning
- 「〜といい」does two jobs.
- First, hoping: 「試験、うまくいくといいね」= I hope the exam goes well.
- It is used for things outside your control, so ね often follows.
- Second, suggesting: 「先生に聞けばいいよ」= you could just ask the teacher.
- For suggestions, ばいい or たらいい is more common.
How to attach
To ask what you should do, say 「どうしたらいいですか」= what should I do? — a sentence you will use every day.
