Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
Meaning
- 「〜と同時に」says two things happened at exactly the same moment: 「卒業と同時に、就職した」= I got a job the moment I graduated.
- A second use is "as well as": 「彼は先生であると同時に、作家でもある」= he is a teacher and at the same time a writer.
How to attach
It attaches to a noun or a dictionary-form verb: 「ベルが鳴ると同時に、ドアが開いた」.
Versus what you know
N3It resembles Lesson 7's 「〜たとたん」, but differs — with たとたん the second thing is unexpected and follows the first; with と同時に both are simultaneous and need not be surprising.
