Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
Meaning
- 「time + ぶりに」says something happened again after a long gap: 「3年ぶりに、国に帰った」= I went home for the first time in three years.
- 「久しぶり」(it's been a while) belongs to the same family.
How to attach
- Before a noun, 「〜ぶりの N」: 「5年ぶりの再会」= a reunion after five years.
- Usually in past-tense sentences.
Watch out
It carries "it hadn't happened for that long", so it is not used for short spans (1分ぶり) — weeks, months, years at least.
