Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
Meaning
- 「なかなか〜ない」says something won't happen easily despite your efforts: 「漢字がなかなか覚えられない」= I just can't seem to memorise kanji.
- It carries frustration — slower or harder than expected.
How to attach
A negative always follows, often a negative potential (覚えられない, 見つからない, 来ない).
Watch out
- Note — in a positive sentence なかなか means something else, "quite good": 「なかなかいい」= pretty good.
- So read the ending to tell them apart.
