V dictionary form + と (V + to) — Whenever you do this, the same thing happens
For results that never change — machines, directions, nature.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
と says "whenever you do this, the same thing follows". Attach と to the non-past plain form (普通形) — 押す → 押すと; negative 押さないと. Where it fits: how a machine works (ボタンを 押すと、切符が 出ます), giving directions (まっすぐ 行くと、駅が あります), nature (春に なると、桜が 咲きます). **The big rule: と cannot be followed by a request, an order, an invitation or a wish.** × 駅に 着くと、電話して ください is wrong — that needs たら. To choose, ask yourself: "does this always turn out the same?" If yes, use と.
Examples (उदाहरणहरू)
ボタンを 押すと、切符が 出ます。
botan o osu to, kippu ga demasu.
When you press the button, a ticket comes out.

Go straight along this road and the station is there.

Question: 1/3Which sentence correctly says "call me when you get to the station"?
💡 Hint: A request, an invitation or a wish cannot follow と.
After と you can only put a result that always follows — 押すと、開きます. When you need a request (〜て ください), an invitation (〜ましょう) or a wish (〜たいです), you must use たら — 駅に 着いたら、電話して ください.
「この ボタンを ___と、お釣りが 出ます」— which form goes in the gap?
💡 Hint: The non-past plain form.
Before と you always put the non-past plain form (the dictionary form) — 押すと. The past (押した), the て form (押して) and the ます stem (押し) do not work.
In which sentence is と correct?
💡 Hint: Look for the one with no request or invitation.
と is right for directions. The other three carry a request or an invitation, so they need たら.
