Meaning
- はじめます = start doing (you begin it): 読みはじめます.
- おわります = finish doing: 食べおわります.
- つづけます = keep on doing: 走りつづけます.
- だします = suddenly begin (outside your control): 雨が 降りだしました.
How to attach
Drop ます and attach any of these four verbs to what is left — the same way ながら attaches.
Watch out
- Watch the difference between はじめます and だします — はじめます is starting as planned, while だします is something beginning suddenly and unexpectedly.
- That is why 降りだしました sounds more natural than 降りはじめました for rain.
