Meaning
- The way to answer どちらが〜ですか: the chosen one + のほうが + Adj です.
- ほう = "side", so 電車のほうがはやいです = "the train's side is faster" ➔ the train is faster.
- The full pair: question どちらが ──> answer 〜のほうが.
How to attach
これのほうが works for "this one".
Watch out
Treat のほうが as one chunk and drop nothing: 電車ほうが ❌, 電車のほうは ❌.
