The past tense of na-adjectives (like きれい, ひま, かんたん) is built from です. Past affirmative changes です → でした (きれいでした = it was pretty). Past negative changes じゃありません → じゃありませんでした (きれいじゃありませんでした = it was not pretty). It is just the past of the present です/じゃありません — the na-adjective itself does not change.
