The rule for making an い-adjective negative: cut the final い, add くない, then です.

高い ──> 高 ──> 高くない ──> 高くないです (not expensive).

This "cut the い" rule applies to い-adjectives only.
It does not work on きれいtrap: な-adjective, ゆうめいtrap: な-adjective, きらいtrap: な-adjective(きれくない ❌), because they are な-adjectives.
One true exception: the negative of いい (good) is よくないです, not いくない ❌ — いい comes from the older よい.
