〜ないものでもない (~nai mono demo nai) — it's not impossible that ~ / might (if …)
A reluctant yes: 'not impossible, if the conditions are right'.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
When to use it
An old friend asks you to help in their shop on your day off. You're tired, but you don't want to flatly refuse either: 「給料次第では、手伝わないものでもない」— 'depending on the pay, it's not that I won't help.'
Meaning
Two 'no's (〜ない + でもない) make a 'yes', but not a full one — just a small, careful door: 'possible, if certain conditions are met'.
How to attach
- Attach it straight to the ない-form of a verb: 引き受けないものでもない・間に合わないものでもない; the potential form works too: 読めないものでもない.
- Dropping 「もの」gives 「〜ないでもない」, with the same meaning.
Versus what you know
- N3「〜ないことはない」(行けないことはない = it's not that I can't go) means much the same, but that is everyday speech
- 「ないものでもない」is stiffer, more written and a little old-fashioned, and a condition usually comes first: 条件次第では・〜ば・〜なら.
Watch out
The key rule: it only goes with verbs (not い-adjectives or nouns), it talks about a future possibility, and it is not for a strong yes — 「喜んで手伝わないものでもない」contradicts itself.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 給料次第では = depending on the pay (a condition) → 引き受けない = I won't take it on (ない-form) → 「ものでもない」 = it's not necessarily so → meaning: I might take it on if the conditions are right.

Knowledge check (मिनी ज्ञान जाँच)
「条件によっては、その仕事を__ものでもない。」— fill the blank.
💡 Hint: The ない-form of the verb goes before 「ものでもない」.
ない-form + ものでもない. 受けないものでもない = it's not that I won't take it (I might, on conditions). The bare stem, 〜ず and the volitional don't attach.
In which sentence is 「ないものでもない」unnatural?
💡 Hint: A verb, or an い-adjective?
ないものでもない only follows a verb's ない-form. 広い is an い-adjective, so it doesn't fit — 「広くなくはない」would work.
「条件次第では、引き受けないものでもない。」— which is closest in meaning?
💡 Hint: Two 'no's = half a 'yes'.
ないものでもない = I might, if the conditions are right. 「引き受けないわけにはいかない」= I have no choice but to (obligation), 「絶対に引き受けない」= definitely won't, 「もう引き受けてしまった」= already did.
