〜くださいますよう (~kudasaimasu yō) — we kindly request that you ~

「〜てください」made as indirect and polite as possible — the request form of letters and notices.

    Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

    Verb お + Vます [ます] + くださいますよう + お願いいたします
    N ご + N + くださいますよう + お願い申し上げます

    Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

    When to use it

    • Letters in envelopes from the city office, the pension office or an insurance company usually end with this sentence: 「期日までにご返送くださいますよう、お願い申し上げます」— 'we kindly request that you return it by the deadline.'
    • In speech 「〜てください」or 「〜ていただけますか」is right; this is the language of writing and announcements.

    Meaning

    • Look at how it's built: 「ご返送ください」(please return) plus 「ます」for extra politeness, then 「よう」(so that…), and finally 「お願い申し上げます」(I request).
    • So instead of the direct order 'return it', you say 'I request that you kindly return it'.

    How to attach

    • Put 「くださいますよう」after 「お+Vます ます」or 「ご+N」(ご返送・ご確認), and always close with 「お願いいたします/お願い申し上げます」.
    • 「〜いただけますよう、お願い申し上げます」is just as common and means the same.

    Versus what you know

N3It looks like the 「〜ますように」(合格しますように), but that is a wish to the gods or to fate; 「くださいますよう」is a clear request to the reader.

    Watch out

The key rule: the person doing the action is the reader (you) — it is never used for your own action.
