〜あまり (~amari) — out of excessive ~ (unusual result)

When a feeling grows so strong that an unusual (mostly bad) result follows.

「〜あまり」sits after a feeling word and says 'that feeling grew so strong that an unusual (mostly bad) result came'.
It comes with words like 心配・緊張・うれしさ・悲しみ・怒り・驚き.
An unusual result follows: 頭が真っ白になった・声も出なかった・寝込んだ.

N3In Lesson 24 you learned 「あまりに(も)〜」: 「あまりに高くて買えなかった」— there あまりに was an adverb, 'far too'.
N4「から・ので」gives a plain reason.
N3「ばかりに」says 'just that small thing' caused a bad result; 「あまり」says the amount was too much.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 緊張 = nervousness (a noun for a feeling) → 「の」 → 「あまり」 = it went too far → then an unusual, bad result: 言い間違えてしまった.

母は私のことを心配するあまり、夜も眠れなくなったそうだ。

はははわたしのことをしんぱいするあまり、よるもねむれなくなったそうだ。

I hear my mother worried about me so much that she couldn't sleep at night.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 心配する = to worry (V辞書形, no 「の」 needed) → 「あまり」 = doing it too much → then an unusual result: 眠れなくなった.

あまりの暑さに、工場で倒れる人が出た。

あまりのあつさに、こうじょうでたおれるひとがでた。

The heat was so extreme that some people collapsed at the factory.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 暑い → drop い and add さ: 暑さ (a noun) → put it inside 「あまりの〜に」: あまりの暑さに → then an unusual result: 倒れる人が出た.
