Shows whose eyes or which angle you are judging from — 外国人から見ると (seen through a foreigner's eyes).
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
When to use it
Talking with a friend about Japan's rubbish-sorting rules: 「外国人から見ると、日本のごみの分け方はとても複雑だ」(seen through a foreigner's eyes, Japan's rubbish sorting is very complicated).
Meaning
「〜から見ると」= standing at a certain point, or looking at certain evidence, you say 'seen this way, it looks like this' — your own judgement, not someone else's.
How to attach
- N + から見ると/から見れば/から見て — no verbs or adjectives.
- A person can come directly before it: 外国人から見ると・第三者から見れば
Versus what you know
- N3「〜によると」(天気予報によると、明日は雨だ) passes on what someone else said; から見ると is your own judgement.
- N3Don't confuse it with 「〜にしては」: 「60歳にしては若い」= 'young for sixty' — a surprise against expectation; から見ると carries no surprise, it only says 'from this angle'.
- Its two brothers 「〜からいうと」(speaking from) and 「〜からすると」(judging from) do the same job, but からいうと cannot take a person directly, and for a guess from signs or evidence からすると fits best.

Knowledge check (मिनी ज्ञान जाँच)
「値段の点_見ると、こちらのほうが安い。」— fill the blank.
💡 Hint: N + _ + 見ると.
N + から見ると. 値段の点から見ると = looking at it from the price angle.
Which sentence is wrong?
💡 Hint: What comes before から見ると?
から見ると attaches only to a noun; 「来る」is a verb, so it is wrong.
「外国人から見ると、日本の電車はとても正確だ。」— what does it say?
💡 Hint: It is not passing on what others said.
から見ると = a judgement seen through that person's eyes or from that angle; to pass on what others said you need 「によると」.
