Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
Meaning
- Two similar words with a real difference.
- 「〜向け」= deliberately made for that group: 「外国人向けのアパート」= an apartment built for foreigners, 「子ども向けの番組」= a programme made for children.
- 「〜向き」= happens to suit them, without being designed for them: 「この部屋は南向きだ」= this room faces south, 「初心者向きの本」= a book that suits beginners.
- The easy test — 向け implies the maker's intention, 向き does not.
