Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
Meaning
- Two adverbs describe gradual change over time, and N4's 「〜ようになる」or 「〜てくる」usually follows.
- 「次第に」= "gradually, bit by bit" (written): 「次第に日本語が分かるようになった」= gradually I came to understand Japanese.
- 「そのうち」= "before long, sooner or later" (spoken, reassuring): 「そのうち慣れるようになるよ」= you'll get used to it before long.
How to attach
「だんだん」is the spoken form of 次第に.
Versus what you know
N3Don't confuse it with Lesson 8's 「〜次第」(as soon as) — that is something else.
