V て-form + みます (V-te mimasu) — To try doing something

Adding みます to the て form of a verb gives the meaning "I will do it and see". It comes from 見ます (to see), but here it is written in hiragana as みます — never in kanji. みます changes like any normal verb: 食べて みました, 着て みたいです, 聞いて みて ください, 行って みても いいですか. Here is the big trap: it does not mean "try to do" in the sense of an attempt that may fail. It means "do it and see the result" — the action does happen, you just do not know yet how it will turn out.
