Embedded Questions
- 1 疑問詞 + plain form + か、〜 gimonshi + plain form + ka, ~ Putting a question inside a bigger sentence How to take a question like "what time is he coming?" and put it inside another sentence.
- 2 plain form + か どうか、〜 plain form + ka douka, ~ Whether or not How to put a yes/no question inside a sentence.
- 3 V て-form + みます V-te mimasu To try doing something Do it and see how it turns out — used when you give something a go.
- 4 い-adj 〜い → 〜さ i-adj ~i -> ~sa Turning an adjective into a noun 高い → 高さ. The form you need every day at work for sizes and weights.
- 5 〜は どうでしょうか / どうですか ~wa dou deshou ka / dou desu ka How is it? / How about this? Asking how something is going, and softly suggesting something — one pattern, two jobs.
- 6 〜と いっても いいです ~to itte mo ii desu You could say that ~ A soft way to give your opinion — "you could say that…".
