Giving & Receiving (Honorific)
- 1 N を くださいます N o kudasaimasu A higher person gives something to me A boss or a teacher gave something to me — the respectful version of くれます.
- 2 N を いただきます N o itadakimasu I humbly receive from a higher person I received something from a higher person — the humble version of もらいます.
- 3 N を さしあげます N o sashiagemasu I humbly give to a higher person I give something to a higher person — the humble version of あげます.
- 4 V て-form + くださいます／いただきます／さしあげます V-te kudasaimasu / itadakimasu / sashiagemasu Giving and receiving actions — kindly did it for me Not a thing but a favour — showing who did something for whom.
- 5 V て-form + くださいませんか V-te kudasaimasen ka Would you kindly ~? Asking another person politely — "would you kindly do it?"
- 6 V て-form + ほしいです V-te hoshii desu I want someone else to do ~ Saying that you want another person to do something.
