V て-form + くださいませんか (V-te kudasaimasen ka) — Would you kindly ~?

「〜て くださいませんか」is built by adding the negative question of くださる to a て form. Asking in the negative softens the request, so it sounds much politer than 〜て ください. The person who does the action is the listener. It is close to 「〜て いただけませんか」from N4 Lesson 1, and the difference is this: くださいませんか asks the other person straight — "won’t you kindly do it?" — while いただけませんか goes round through my own side — "could I not receive it?". Because it is indirect, 〜て いただけませんか is the politer of the two. Which to pick? With a boss, a customer or a stranger use 〜て いただけませんか; with a colleague or a higher person you know well, 〜て くださいませんか is enough.
