V て-form + ほしいです (V-te hoshii desu) — I want someone else to do ~
Saying that you want another person to do something.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
If you want to do it yourself, you use 〜たいです; if you want a thing, 「Nが ほしいです」. But the form for "I want you to do this for me" is 「〜て ほしいです」. The person you want it from is marked with に — 弟に 勉強して ほしいです. The negative is 「〜ないで ほしいです」(吸わないで ほしいです). It is direct, so said to a boss it sounds like an order; to soften it, say 「〜て ほしいんですが…」and leave the sentence hanging. With family, friends and junior colleagues you can use it freely. Which to pick? With a friend or family, 〜て ほしいです; with a boss or a customer, 〜て いただけませんか.
