Meaning
- 「N に 見えます」says "it looks like that thing" — 田中さんは 学生に 見えます.
- With the plain form (普通形), と 見えます makes a guess in the sense of "it seems that": 雨が 降ったと 見えます.
How to attach
An い-adjective drops い and takes く (若い → 若く 見えます); な-adjectives and nouns take に (元気に 見えます, 学生に 見えます).

Which to pick? Use に 見えます when one thing looks like another thing; use 〜そうです from the first point of this lesson when you are guessing at a taste, a feeling, or something about to happen.
Watch out
- There is one trap: 見えます also means "can be seen" (山が 見えます).
- Tell them apart by the particle — が means "can be seen", に means "looks like".
