Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

Meaning

〜ていきます and 〜てきます show which way the action moves.
In space: 持っていきます = take it away from here, 持ってきます = bring it here.
It works the same for people — 連れていきます (take someone along) / 連れてきます (bring someone here).
The same direction works in time: 増えていきます = it will keep increasing from now on, 増えてきました = it has been increasing up to now.
An easy way to remember it — いく = away from me or into the future; くる = toward me or up to now.

Versus what you know

Which to pick? If the point is going and coming back here, use 〜て来ます from the previous point; if there is no coming back and you only want to show direction or time, use this one.
