V dictionary form / V て いる / V た + ところです (V-jisho / V-te iru / V-ta + tokoro desu) — Right at that moment
One word covers three timings — about to do it, doing it right now, just finished it.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
「ところ」literally means "place", but here it marks an exact point in time. It attaches three ways: dictionary form (辞書形) + ところです = the action has not started yet, you are about to do it (これから 出かける ところです); て form + いる + ところです = you are doing it right now (今 作って いる ところです); た form + ところです = the action finished a moment ago (たった今 終わった ところです). The words around it help too — これから / 今から with the first, 今 with the second, たった今 with the third. **Trap:** 「た ところです」covers only seconds or minutes, not a long stretch — 「三か月前に 来た ところです」is wrong. Which to pick? If a lot of time has passed but it still feels new to you, do not use ところ; use 「ばかり」(the next point).
