〜まして (~mashite) — The formal joining form
The polite joining word you hear in apologies and formal speech.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
〜まして is the て form of ます. Drop ます and add まして: 遅れます → 遅れまして, 降ります → 降りまして. Its job is the job of the て form — joining two clauses or showing a cause — but at a higher level of politeness. Where you hear it: in apologies (遅れまして、申し訳 ありません), in thanks (手伝って いただきまして、ありがとう ございました), and in formal announcements or speeches. **Trap: it is not for every sentence.** With friends or in ordinary talk the plain て form is enough — 遅れて すみません. Overusing まして sounds stiff, so keep it for apologies, thanks and talking to customers.
