Relief about something already done — "I am glad that happened".
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
「〜て よかったです」says you are glad or relieved about something that has already happened. How to attach: put the verb in the て form and add よかった (来ます → 来て よかった, 勉強します → 勉強して よかった). In the negative, ない drops and なくて takes its place: 降らない → 降らなくて よかった (I am glad it did not rain). **✅ This page is different from the others:** this one is polite. With 「よかったです」you can say it to anyone — a 店長, a 課長, a 先輩, a customer. With a friend, drop です and just say 「来て よかった」. **Which to pick?** 「〜て よかった」= glad you did it. For regret, use 「〜ば よかった」instead — 「早く 行けば よかったです」(I should have gone earlier). Both end in よかった, but the meanings are opposites.

Question: 1/3How do you tell your 店長 "I am glad I came"?
💡 Hint: Look for the one with です.
「〜て よかったです」is polite — safe with your 店長, your 先輩, a customer, anyone. Without です, 「来て よかった」is for friends and same-age 同僚 only, and かい never goes upward.

Which sentence shows regret — "I should have gone earlier"?
💡 Hint: The ば form + よかった.
〜ば よかった = regret (I should have). 〜て よかった = gladness (I am glad I did). They are opposites. 行きたい is "I want to go", 行かなくて よかった is "I am glad I did not go".
