Adding 「います」 to a verb's te-form means "is doing it right now" — an ongoing action. It is often used with 「今」 (now).

読んでいます

今、本を読んでいます。

ima, hon o yonde imasu.

I am reading a book now.

あめふっています

あめがふっています。

ame ga futte imasu.

It is raining.

いもうとおんがく聞いています

いもうとはおんがくを聞いています。

imouto wa ongaku o kiite imasu.

My little sister is listening to music.
