Meaning
- More practice with 〜ています from Lesson 14: something happening right now — 今、本を読んでいます (I am reading a book now).
- Not only people's actions but weather and surroundings too: あめがふっています (It is raining).
How to attach
- Same pattern: て-form + います.
- To ask "what are you doing?", say 今、何をしていますか.

今、本を読んでいます。
いま、ほんをよんでいます。
I am reading a book now.
How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) 今 ──> 本を ──> 読む (む ➔ んで) ──> 読んで ──> [ + います ] ──> 今、本を読んでいます (I am reading a book now).
あめがふっています。
ame ga futte imasu.
It is raining.
How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) あめが (rain) ──> ふる (る ➔ って) ──> ふって ──> [ + います ] ──> あめがふっています (it is raining).
いもうとはおんがくを聞いています。
いもうとはおんがくをきいています。
My little sister is listening to music.
How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) いもうとは ──> おんがくを ──> 聞く (く ➔ いて) ──> 聞いて ──> [ + います ] ──> 聞いています (she is listening).
