Meaning
- The second job of the same 〜ています: not an action in progress but a state that has lasted a long time.
- Workplace: 父はぎんこうではたらいています (My father works at a bank).
- Residence: とうきょうにすんでいます (I live in Tokyo); marriage: けっこんしています (I am married).
- In Nepali read it as "…गर्छु / …छु", not "…गर्दैछु".
How to attach
はたらく, すむ, けっこんする, しる (to know ➔ しっています) usually take ています in this state sense.
Watch out
Do not say すみます ❌; say すんでいます ✅.
