〜に 乗ります/〜を 降ります (~ ni norimasu / ~ o orimasu) — get on / get off

The doorway rule from Lesson 5 for trains and buses: getting on takes に, getting off takes を.

Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

Meaning

  • A train, bus or taxi is also a place with a door — going in = getting on, going out = getting off.
  • So getting on takes (I get on the train); getting off takes (I get off the train).

How to attach

Giving directions, join with the

Versus what you know

In Lesson 5 we learned 部屋に入ります (into ➔ に) and 部屋を出ます (out of ➔ を) — this is the same pair.

Watch out
