〜たことがあります (-ta koto ga arimasu) — have (once) done — experience

The pattern for talking about a past experience.

Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

Adding ことがあります after a verb's た形 means "have the experience of doing …" — whether you have ever done something. E.g. 日本へ行ったことがあります = "I have been to Japan." To say you have not, end with ありません: 見たことがありません = "I have never seen it." Here こと nominalizes the action and が marks it.

Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

日本行ったことあります

日本へ行ったことがあります。

nihon e itta koto ga arimasu.

I have been to Japan.

すし食べたことあります

すしを食べたことがあります。

sushi o tabeta koto ga arimasu.

I have eaten sushi.

この本読んだことありません

この本を読んだことがありません。

kono hon o yonda koto ga arimasen.

I have never read this book.
