どこのN/国のN (doko no N / kuni no N) — N from where? / N made in (country)
The の that answers "from where?" — which country or company made it.
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
Meaning
- The same の has another job — answering "from where?".
- Put a country or company name in front and it tells where the thing was made or comes from: 日本の車 = a Japanese (made-in-Japan) car, ネパールのお茶 = tea from Nepal.
How to attach
To ask, use どこ (where) + の = どこの (from where): これはどこの車ですか (Where is this car from?).
Versus what you know
- The の in Lesson 1 answered "whose?".
- The pattern is exactly like 先生の本 — the only difference is that a place or company, not a person, stands in front.
