〜時〜分です (-ji -fun desu) — telling the time
The basic pattern for telling clock time.

To tell the time, put 時 (ji, o'clock) after a number, add 分 (fun/pun) for minutes, and end with です. Example: 七時です (shichiji desu) = "It's seven o'clock." A few readings are irregular: 四時 (yoji), 七時 (shichiji), 九時 (kuji). Minutes also shift sound: 一分 (ippun), 三分 (sanpun), 十分 (juppun). Use 半 (han) for "half past" — 九時半 = half past nine.
