どんな N (donna N) — what kind of N?
A question word asking the kind or quality of a noun.

Meaning
- どんな = "what kind of".
- どんな人ですか (What kind of person?), どんな車 (what kind of car).
How to attach
- Like この from Lesson 2 it cannot stand alone — a noun must follow directly; どんなは ❌ never happens.
- The answer is adjective + noun: しんせつな人です (a kind person).
Versus what you know
どう vs どんな: if a noun follows, どんな; if no noun, どう (日本語はどうですか).
