ありました (arimashita) — Found it! / there it was
When you find what you were looking for, Japanese uses the past tense.

N + は + ばしょ + に + ありました

When to use it
- When you find the thing you were looking for, Japanese says 「ありました」— in the past.
- In Nepali we say "भेटियो!" or "यहाँ रहेछ!".
Meaning
Why the past, when you found it just now? Because the sense is "so it was here all along" — the thing was already there, and you only now know it.
How to attach
- Use に for the place: かばんの 中に ありました.
- For people or animals, say いました: 猫は 部屋に いました.
Watch out
When you find it, saying あります (present) sounds odd.
