Meaning
- When "is" needs to become "is not", drop です and put じゃありません — that is all.
- 学生です (am a student) ──> 学生じゃありません (am not a student).
How to attach
- It attaches right after the noun; nothing else changes.
- In speech じゃありません is the normal form.
- In very formal writing じゃ becomes では (ではありません), same meaning.
