〜に〜がいます (~ ni ~ ga imasu) — there is (a person/animal)

The way to say a living thing — a person or animal — exists in a place.

ばしょ + に + 人／どうぶつ + が + います

Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

Meaning

For a person or animal being somewhere, the pattern is the same and only the verb changes: place + に, living thing + が, then います.
へやにねこがいます (There is a cat in the room), あそこに田中さんがいます (Mr. Tanaka is over there).
Easy way to remember: things that breathe and move ➔ います; everything else ➔ あります.

Watch out

Again に ✅ on the place, never で ❌ — because います only means "to be".

へやにねこがいます。

heya ni neko ga imasu.

There is a cat in the room.

How it is built (कसरी बन्यो) The place へや ──> [ + に ✅ ] ──> へやに ──> the animal ねこ (cat) ──> [ + が ] ──> a living, breathing thing ➔ [ + います ] ──> There is a cat in the room.

あそこに田中さんがいます。

あそこにたなかさんがいます。

Tanaka is over there.
