Meaning
- To say where a known person or animal is: person + は, place + に, then います: 田中さんはへやにいます (Mr. Tanaka is in the room).
- It answers "田中さんはどこにいますか" (Where is Mr. Tanaka?).
Watch out
に ✅ on the place (never で ❌), and います because it is a living being.
