〜が ほしいです (~ ga hoshii desu) — want (a thing)
The form for wanting a thing — "I want …".
Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)
Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)
When to use it
"I want a new phone", "I want money" — when you want a thing.
Meaning
Put が after the thing, then ほしいです: 車がほしいです (I want a car).
How to attach
ほしい is itself an い-adjective, so it changes like one — negative ほしくないです (do not want), past ほしかったです (wanted).
Versus what you know
- For a thing, N が ほしいです; for an action, drop ます and add たいです (the previous point).
- 水がほしいです (I want water) / 水が飲みたいです (I want to drink water).
Watch out
Like たい, ほしいです states your own wish; asking someone else is fine: 何がほしいですか (What do you want?).
