Nは (विरोध) (N wa (contrast)) — は for topic/contrast on an object

は instead of を — emphasis and contrast.

Formula (सूत्र ढाँचा)

N object / topic
replaces を (contrast/emphasis)

Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

The object is normally marked with を, but when you make it the topic or contrast it with something else, は replaces を — especially in negative sentences. e.g. osake wa nomimasen.
