Grammar rule (व्याकरण नियम र परिभाषा)

When a 「〜ですか」 question asks about a noun, the affirmative reply is はい、そうです — 'yes, that's right'. It works only for noun-identity questions (person, thing), not for verb or adjective questions.

Examples (उदाहरणहरू)

「学生ですか。」「はい、そうです。」

"gakusei desu ka." "hai, sou desu."

"Are you a student?" "Yes, that's right."

「これはお茶ですか。」「はい、そうです。」

"kore wa ocha desu ka." "hai, sou desu."

"Is this tea?" "Yes, that's right."

「あの人は先生ですか。」「はい、そうです。」

"ano hito wa sensei desu ka." "hai, sou desu."

"Is that person a teacher?" "Yes, that's right."
