Meaning

With verbs of movement — walk, cross, leave, stroll — を marks the place you move through / across / out of.
こうえんをさんぽします (I stroll through the park), はしをわたります (I cross the bridge), このみちをあるきます (I walk along this road).
The place is not an object being acted on, it is the route.
